Programme Note
Poliphonia is a charity founded in 2017 with the purpose of promoting the music of the Americas.
Poliphonia aims to promote the revision and digitation of scores still in manuscript form and the performance of music of the Americas by established professional as well as young players.
The Corvisier Piano Duo was created in 1991. Duo Corvisier has been recognised as one of the foremost Brazilian piano duos by its remarkable ensemble, rhythmic vitality, and intense musicianship. Fátima and Fernando Corvisier’s partnership has taken Duo Corvisier to perform in many cities in Brazil and abroad. During an eight-year period of residence in the United States, the Corvisier Piano Duo was invited to perform in prestigious recital series such as The Rosa Ponselle Fund of Meriden, Connecticut; the Channing Concerts promoted by the Greenbriar Consortium, and the Bay Area Houston Symphony League, in Houston, Texas. Duo Corvisier’s repertoire encompass a wide range from classical to contemporary works.
In 2007 Duo Corvisier was invited to represent Brazil at the International Congress of Music Performance sponsored by the Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal. By that time, the Duo gave a lecture-recital on the works for piano duet by Brazilian composer Ronaldo Miranda.
Recent performances include a lecture recital at With Four Hands Conference at University of London (2013); recital and lecture recital at Performa’13 in Porto Alegre (2013); lecture recital at ISPS in Vienna (2013); a recital at University of Houston (2011); recital at Sala Cecília Meirelles, Rio de Janeiro (2022).
