London Tango Quintet
Programme Note
The London Tango Quintet is a unique group of five internationally acclaimed musicians performing tango music at the highest level. Their long-awaited debut recording “Dancing with Piazzolla” will be released on 12 February 2024.
These two concerts taking place in our intimate Salon offer the audience an exclusive opportunity to experience this passionate and energetic music up close with the performers.
The London Tango Quintet has performed regularly at festivals and venues throughout the UK drawing superlatives from audiences and promoters, being described as “sheer tango dynamite”.
However, it was a full 16 years before they ventured into the recording studio:
“There are a lot of wonderful tango recordings out there already.” says Juritz. “I didn’t want to record anything until I felt we could produce something distinctive which would hold its own against the best in a very competitive field.”
The concerts will feature tracks from the album by the legendary Argentinian tango composer Astor Piazzolla, together with music by Horacio Salgan, other tango classics and two tracks composed by David Gordon.
