Programme Note

In honour of Remembrance Day, a programme of music written during the two major world conflicts of the 20th Century. Each composer was prevented from fighting but poured their feelings on the tragedy of war into three extraordinary pieces for violin & piano.

Described by The Sunday Telegraph as having both “warm musicality” and “virtuosity”, and Gramophone magazine as “passionately committed advocates”, the Steinberg Duo is dedicated to presenting the violin and piano repertoire as an equal partnership. Over the last three years they have released three critically acclaimed albums on the Nimbus Alliance label while maintaining a busy concert schedule. They have performed live on BBC Radio 3 and their most recent disc has recently been broadcast by BBC Radio 3 in the UK and Radio Marabu in Germany.
