Programme Note

Universally acknowledged as one of the greatest pianist/composers of recent times there is more to Nikolai Kapustin (1937–2020) and his dazzling piano music than just a heady blend of Jazz and classical motifs.

In this momentous recital experience a selection of Kapustin’s piano work’s alongside the composer/pianists he himself acknowledged as seminal to shaping his style.

Acclaimed young newcomer, Guy Murgatroyd, plays host every eclectic step of the way exploring the depth of Kapustin’s stylistic traits and kinks.

Join him for a one-off journey via Scriabin, Ravel, Prokofiev and Bartok to the very epicentre of this utterly thrilling and vibrant piano music.
