Programme Note

Welcome to the second in our season of chamber concerts at the 1901 Arts Club, performed by musicians from London and beyond and hosted by bassoonist Miles Chapman

This concert commences with a romantic wind quintet from 1902, an early work of Ottorino Respighi.  We continue with two duets from Avant Garde composer William Jay Sydeman who wrote the two works 40 years apart.  We will hear the lyrical playing of Adrian Somogyi performing two short works by the French composer Marcel Bitsch.  We will also hear two more works by, and indeed featuring Stephen Dickinson, his trio for oboe, bassoon and piano which is being premiered on this occasion, written for this group during a period of convalescence over the winter.

Our Waterloo-based music salon comes with cosy seating and an amply stocked bar to quench your thirst before and after the performance as well as the interval.  So come along, grab a drink, kick back your heels and melt into some beautiful music.
