Programme Note

The City of Sounds Festival celebrates the role that Birmingham Conservatoire's Adrian Boult Hall has played in the musical life of the city, before its closure and relocation to a new Conservatoire building.

Birmingham Festival Choral Society, one of whose former conductors was Adrian Boult himself, have performed regularly in the Adrian Boult Hall since it opened thirty years ago. For City of Sounds they celebrate the hall with a piece of music that itself is celebratory in its very nature, Mozart’s ever-popular Coronation Mass.
