Programme Note
The opening concert of Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra’s new season celebrates the warmth and passion of Italy. On Sunday 14th October at 3.0pm in the Albert Hall you can hear operatic arias from La Boheme by Puccini as well as the great Pines of Rome by Resphighi, a spectacular work which uses the full resources of the modern orchestra. As well as these Italian works we have impressions of Italy by composers from Northern Europe; Elgar’s overture ‘In the South’ inspired by Rome and Tchaikovsky’s fantasy on Italian themes, Capriccio Italian.
