Add to my Calendar 18-03-2018 15:00 18-03-2018 17:00 36 Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra plays Bernstein, Korngold and Stravinsky On Sunday 18th March we bring you three masterworks by 20th Century composers with jazz, film and dance connections.  The concert at 3pm in Nottingham’s Albert Hall features young violinist Callum Smart with Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra. To mark the centenary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein we present the suite from his 1953 movie ‘On the Waterfront’, which starred Marlon Brando.  This is followed by Erich Korngold’s superb Violin Concerto, played by BBC Young Musician Winner Callum Smart.  The concerto was written in America after Korngold was forced to flee his native Austria.  We end with Stravinsky’s great ballet suite Petrushka, the story of three puppets brought to life, written for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company in Paris in 1910 and revised in 1947. On Sunday 18th March we bring you three masterworks by 20th Century composers with jazz, film and dance connections. The concert at 3pm in Nottingham’s Albert Hall features young violinist Callum Smart with Nottingham Philharmonic Orchestra.
