Programme Note

At last our travels bring us home. We circle round the British Isles, taking in the Lochs and Glens of Scotland with MacCunn followed by the choral heritage of Wales with Williams' Penillion, a work influencedby the different elements of traditional Welsh singing . Walton's ‘Spitfire Prelude and Fugue’ sends us soaring through the clouds in dramatic form, back to Norfolk and to Vaughan Williams.. With his Norfolk Rhapsody, we nestle among the inhabitants of the Fisher Fleet of King's Lynn, who shared with Vaughan Williams many of their tales and songs. Finally we bring the focus even closer to home - on the orchestra itself, with Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. A real showcase, where each instrument has the opportunity to shine! . Free tickets for under 18s, call Box Office for detail
