Programme Note

We journey across the Atlantic to the Americas with a programme full of classical greats. We open with the Overture to Candide,Leonard Bernstein’s musical comedy, with his characteristic wit. Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings will soothe the soul with its beautiful melodies before we are thrilled by the vibrancy of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Aaron Copland’s Rodeo will transport us to the Wild West, with the concert being drawn to a close with the wonderful Latin American rhythms of Arturo Márquez’s Danzon No.2. We are thrilled to welcome back the wonderful pianist Viv McLean for this concert. It is sure to be one to remember
