A musical tour of Spanish and Latin American music from Flamenco to Tango. Including works by: De Falla, Granados, Casals, Piazzolla, Villa-Lobos, Ginastera.
Cellist Andrew Fuller has a busy and varied career as a soloist, chamber musician, guest principal, session musician and teacher. He was Associate Principal with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years. As a chamber musician he is also a member of Primavera. He has made many appearances at The Wigmore Hall and at festivals and music clubs around the world. He was a member of the York Piano Trio, the Fibonacci sequence and Aquarius. He has also been a regular guest player with other Groups including the Sorrel, Brindisi and Coull String Quartets, Endymion and the Schubert Ensemble.
While studying with John Williams at the Royal College of Music in 1968, John Mills was awarded a Spanish government scholarship that helped him travel to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. He attended the prestigious Música en Compostela summer school, which Segovia had established in 1958 (with the help of José Miguel Ruiz Morales). Many of Spain’s finest musicians gave master classes at this annual international summer school, and John relished the opportunity to be taught by Segovia that summer.
Coffee will be servied before the concert from 10.30am.
