Programme Note
The first half of the concert will be dedicated to music to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice at the end of World War 1, on 11th November 1918. This part includes Fantasia on Southwell, a piece by our conductor, Rupert Bond, as well as more well-known pieces, such as Elgar’s Nimrod, from his Enigma variations.
After the interval, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, with our wonderful leader Madeleine Easton as soloist, acts as a bridge as the programme takes on a Christmas theme. The Harmonie Choir will be joining us in part of the programme and leading us in some carols.
