It's got something for everyone.   The main work is Poulenc's wonderful Gloria. Poulenc creates amazing colours and the music has a zingy, energetic quality, with jazz-infused chords. Written for orchestra, it translates very well to an organ accompaniment – and that is what we will have on the night.   This is complemented by Matthias's Ave Rex and Holst's Christmas Day: two pieces using familiar carols in sequence making them accessible to everyone. It's a great introduction to our carols for Choir and audience: the big tunes everyone loves to sing at Christmas.   So, plenty of variety, some new music we'll think you'll enjoy, and familiar carols to listen to and join in with.
