Programme Note
Beaconsfield-based chamber choir Wooburn Singers are thrilled that award-winning British composer Kerensa Briggs will be attending their autumn concert on Saturday 11th November at All Saints Church, Marlow.
Her music has been performed at venues including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Sistine Chapel, and is regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Her portrait disc ‘Requiem’ for Delphian Records (2023) is placed in the top 30 classical charts. Her Requiem has only been performed twice before, and the choir will be delighted to welcome Kerensa to their perfomance.
The Requiem will be complemented by poignant and evocative music for remembrance and reflection, from the 19th and 20th century.
The Wooburn Singers are joined by the mezzo-soprano Bethany Horak-Hallett, an Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Rising Star alumna. She won first prize in the 2019 Normandy International Music Competition (Concours Corneille), and has performed recently at the BBC Proms.
The organist Richard Carr started out as a county music scholar at the High Wycombe Music Centre. He is director of music at St Michael’s Church, Bishop’s Stortford and a freelance accompanist and teacher, who has accompanied choral workshops with Bob Chilcott, John Rutter, Brian Kay and Greg Beardsell.
