A festival of Baroque Christmas music sung by the Elgar Chorale in the wonderful acoustic of Malvern's Church of the Ascension.

With a small instrumental ensemble and in the atmospheric church surroundings, the Elgar Chorale will present a programme of music from the era of Gabrieli and Bach: these two composers stand at the beginning and ending of the Baroque period. You will hear the glorious O Magnum Mysterium and Hodie Christus natus est by Gabrieli, the motet Lobet den Herrn and some of the chorales and preludes for which Bach is so loved as well as music by Schütz, Scheidt and other composers of the era.
