Programme Note

A lunchtime concert featuring soprano Claire Ward, Maxim del Mar (violin), Miriam Nohl (cello) and Kristiina Watt (theorbo). Handel’s Europe will include a performance of extracts from 9 German Arias HWV202-210, French Cantata HWV 155 and Spanish Cantata HWV 140, interspersed with lute arrangements by Corelli. Concert from 1pm at The Great Hall, Barts Heritage.

Claire Ward is a British/Irish soprano based in London. Recent performances include a chorus role in the Opera Holland Park 2022 season and performing in the 2021 Oxford Lieder Festival. Claire is currently a young artist with Opera Prelude and was part of Britten Pears Programme in 2019, and regularly works with Live Music Now, providing participatory concerts in a variety of settings. Opera roles include Frantik (Opera Holland Park), Susanna (cover at The Grange Festival) and Venus (Royal Academy of Music). Claire is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Durham University, Samling Academy and the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Toulouse.
