Programme Note
The Goring and Streatley Concert and Starter Bands will be returning to Benson Parish Hall for their 2016 Spring Concert on April 23rd. Doors will open at 7:00, the concert will start at 7:30.
Tickets – £10 for adults, £5 for accompanied children (the price including an interval drink) – will be available from early April at Derry's Den in Benson, Inspiration at Goring and (subject to availability) on the door.
The bands will be under their regular conductors – Andrew McBirnie for the Concert Band, Claire Salmon for the Starter Band – and, as last year, the two bands will combine for a few numbers. With just over 40 players in the Concert Band and about 50 in the Starter Band, the stage is going to be pretty packed!
There are few genres that the bands avoid, and the programme for the evening will reflect the wide range of music the bands play – classical, swing, funk, film, musicals, marches, waltzes, they will all be there. English composers will be well represented, as appropriate for a St Georges Day concert.
Proceeds from the concert will be shared with the charity nominated by band members – this year (as last) this is the Thames Valley and Chilterns Air Ambulance Trust.
