Four Journeys is an exciting and ambitious programme of song which challenges the traditional song recital format. Four groups of four songs, each distinct in its own right, but when merged seamlessly within the group becomes part of yet another tale to be told, another journey to be taken. In this recital, each of the four sections explores a different theme: Journey into Twisted Love Journey into the Imagination Journey to the Dark Side Journey to Memory and Peace With music by Duparc, Schubert, Berlioz, Wolf and others, this is a passionate, no-holds barred display of the power of music and words together to encourage us to take our own journey. Programmed and performed by Nigel Foster, pianist and director of the London Song Festival, and sung by soprano Louisa Petais, this unique format of story-telling had its debut in the US in June and is being revived especially for Opera in the City Festival at Bridewell Theatre.
