Programme Note
An eclectic programme of music and readings on a nautical theme, in the spectacular Grand Entrance Hall of the Brunel Museum.
CML will perform a selection of 'Songs of the Waves' by Mozart, Byrd, and Barber, along with Donald Fraser's exquisite choral arrangement of Elgar's beautiful song cycle Sea Pictures, and classic pop and folk songs and sea shanties.
We're delighted to welcome Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh, who will be reading extracts from former CML member Caroline Crampton's book The Way to the Sea. Charting the course of the Thames Estuary, The Way to the Sea garnered rave reviews when it was published in 2020, with the Sunday Times praising the book's 'descriptive power' and Crampton's 'first-hand knowledge of navigating the river'.
