Programme Note
Oxana Shevchenko is a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, where she studied with Elena Kuznetsova and Sergey Kuznetsov. She is currently studying with Benedetto Lupo at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
In 2010 Oxana Shevchenko won first prize at the Scottish International Piano Competition. Additional awards include first prize at the 2015 International Franz Liszt Piano Competition (Italy) and fourth prize, the International Music Critic Prize, and a special prize for the best interpretation of Busoni’s work at the 2009 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition (Italy). She has performed with orchestras worldwide, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre National de Lorraine, Radio Symphony Orchestra Pilsen, and the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and with notable conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Martyn Brabbins.
Highlights of recent seasons include appearances at London’s Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Zurich, Hong Kong City Hall, Glasgow City Hall, the Lucerne Festival, and more.
