Programme Note
The University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra is comprised of students and non-students from the university and the surrounding area, conducted by Paul McGrath and Lucy Griffiths. Previously, the Orchestra has performed various concerts at Warwick Arts Centre as well as performing alongside Warwick University Chinese Orchestra at St. John’s Smith square, London providing all the performers the fantastic opportunity to collaborate together. Furthermore, the orchestra has been on tour with Warwick University Chorus performing in Konstanz, Germany and Strasbourg, France. Whilst on tour the orchestra enjoyed the opportunity to play with students from the local area and take on Dvorak Symphony No. 8 and Faure’s Requiem. This year, our international tour takes place in Ljubljana, Slovenia with over 90 musicians from the Orchestra and Chorus. Following the phenomenal desk-share with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in May, we are excited to perform alongside the Chorus and other gifted musicians in these magical pieces.
