It contains some of Bach’s most virtuosic and exuberant music, including several seasonal chorale settings. Vaughan Williams takes traditional Christmas music of a different kind as the basis for his Fantasia on Christmas Carols, based on folk songs collected from around England, which he did much to popularise, making a work overflowing with ‘comfort and joy’. And for everyone who has missed singing, there will be carols for choir and audience featuring a number of old favourites. This performance is family-friendly. (Babes in arms (children up to 2 years of age) are permitted to share a seat with each full paying adult. Children aged 2 years or more will require a paid ticket and seat. Booster seats are available on request.) Please note, there will be no late admittance before the interval.
