Programme Note
Join London Concert Choir for a captivating performance
of Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore and
Beethoven’s Mass in C Major alongside the renowned
Counterpoint period instrument ensemble. This concert
promises a rich exploration of sacred choral music,
blending elegance and emotional depth.
Composed in 1780 for Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart’s
Vesperae Solennes de Confessore opens with five
radiant psalms, the serene and beloved Laudate
Dominum, and a majestic Magnificat. Its melodic grace,
festive trumpets, and intricate choral textures create
an uplifting celebration of divine praise, showcasing
Mozart’s mastery of sacred composition.
The evening concludes with Beethoven’s Mass in C
Major (1807), written during his struggle with deafness.
This profound work features a vibrant Gloria with
triumphant brass, a tranquil Sanctus, and an expressive
solo quartet in the Kyrie and Credo, blending operatic
vitality with spiritual depth.
Perfect for choral music enthusiasts, this performance
offers a moving journey through two sacred masterpieces.
