Programme Note

Last year, this pre-eminent choir for female voices made its Carnegie Hall debut with Philip Glass for the revival of his ground-breaking composition ‘Music With Changing Parts’. 2018 also saw the release of the choir's album 'Final Answers' on Philip Glass’s Orange Mountain Music Label, featuring bespoke commissions for the chorus. Gramophone Magazine described the ensemble as having ‘beauty of tone, exceptional agility and keen attention to words’. Their tour programme is set to include "Father Death Blues" by Philip Glass as well as stylistically challenging contemporary folk and classical commissions that are bespoke to the choir, such as ‘Herring Run’ by Carla Kihlstedt and ‘Rags of Time’ excerpts by Fred Frith.
