Programme Note

In 1829 Mendelssohn befriended the Taylor family in Rhydymwyn, returning often to visit them there and in London. This short musical play features pianist Paula Fan as your hostess, Anne Taylor, and baritone Jeremy Huw Williams as Mendelssohn, her honoured guest.

During his first visit to Britain in 1829, a frustrated Felix Mendelssohn wrote, 'Here I am in Wales, and, heaven help us!’. Dismay turned to pleasure as he walked the Welsh hills in the company of the musical Taylor sisters of Coed Du Hall, forming the basis of a lasting friendship.  Please join Anne Taylor in her parlour as she shares music and memories of the great composer’s time in Wales as well as tales of his audiences with Royalty as Mr Mendelssohn Comes to Tea!

(Tea will be served, of course!)
