Programme Note

The Chapel Street Ensemble’s musical versatility will be on full display in this programme of chamber music featuring two rarely performed jewels by Prokofiev and Vaughan Williams and one of Mozart’s evergreen masterpieces.

The Prokofiev Overture on Hebrew Themes features an unusual combination of clarinet, string quartet and piano. It is attractive, colourful and full of character, while Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Piano Quintet (piano quartet plus double bass) is a work of youthful passion and great beauty. Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major is a gorgeous, timeless masterpiece.

The Chapel Street Ensemble brings together leading up-and-coming professional musicians from west Cornwall under the guidance of Timothy Dean, who is also the Ensemble’s pianist.

The Ensemble players appearing in this concert are Nat Jones (violin), Katy Rowe (violin), Emma Stansfield (viola), Danielle Jones (cello), Seb Poznansky (cello), Edward Francis-Smith (double bass), Jacob Perry (clarinet) and Timothy Dean (piano).

Seating will be socially distanced. Under-18s get in free but must pre-book via the online box office.
