Programme Note

Cheltenham Bach Choir will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s dramatic “Requiem” on the eve of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Verdi’s extraordinary work is uplifting and thrilling – as operatic as it is religious, using vigorous rhythms, sublime melodies and vivid contrasts to express the powerful emotions engendered by the text.  For this performance, the choir will be joined by four notable international soloists and the Regency Sinfonia, conducted by David Crown.   Don’t miss this performance of one of the classics of the choral repertoire.
