Programme Note

This season has been designated by the Chester Philharmonic ”The High Five Season”. Each of the symphonies performed will be one of the favourite symphonies numbered “5”. This evening you will hear Beethoven’s very popular and instantly recognisable Fifth Symphony. For their first Cathedral Concert in their 2016/17 Season, the Philharmonic have chosen to perform yet another variation from the usual classical concert format. Tonight we will hear two symphonies for the price of one. The conductor will be Stephen Threlfall, Director of Music at Chetham’s School of Music Manchester
