His legacy is more than just genial music, but an important cultural mark left in British History. To honour Vaughan Williams, current RCM students are performing his Oboe Concerto written in 1943-44, dedicated to Léon Goossens, alongside F. Mendelssohn's Midsummer Night's Dream and W. A. Mozart's 40th symphony. Alex Franklin, British oboist, is the guest soloist for this programme, showing the concerto's beautiful and exciting themes with his thrilling and gifted playing. Vaughan Williams 150 - The Chamber Orchestra Project was created by Patricia Khachkalyan Gomes, conductor and artistic director of the project.
