Programme Note
Libby Burgess’ programme opens and closes with J S Bach – first in original form, and then in a passionate romantic transcription by virtuoso pianist and composer, Ferruccio Busoni. In between she interleaves Christ Church composers (Warlock, Dowland, Pantcheff) and Christ Church visitors (Mendelssohn, Frances-Hoad) with music that connects to their work thematically. She also honours Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, whose anniversary falls this year.
Libby Burgess is well-known on concert stages across Britain, playing regularly as a song specialist and chamber musician.
