Programme Note

Pinsuti, the Ilkley and Skipton chamber choir conducted by Robert Webb, invite you to a concert featuring a selection of sacred pieces presenting the word 'alleluia’, in excitingly contrasting settings, from a modern work by Whitacre to the most famous alleluia of them all: Handel's 'Hallelujah' chorus.

Pinsuti is well known for its delightful unaccompanied singing but some of these pieces are great celebratory works, such as ' Zadok the Priest', and these will be accompanied by Christ Church's splendid organ. Two works by Bruckner will also have the support of a brass ensemble.  The programme includes music from the 16th century, by Palestrina, and ranges through the centuries with some early 20th century gems by Stanford and Bairstow, to contemporary works such Tavener's magical 'Song for Athene'.

This is probably one of our most varied and exciting programmes to date.  Combine this array of music with the fabulous acoustic of Christ Church and its very comfortable chairs and you have an excellent evening to look forward to!

Tickets are available from choir members or on the door, cost £8.
