Programme Note
What better way to start our season than with two pieces by the great William Byrd? We follow this with an extraordinary setting by Tallis in the early Tudor style.
Byrd's Ave Verum Corpus is re-imagined by Roderick Williams, giving it an intriguing modern slant; and his Let Nothing Trouble You is soothing and romantic.
We devote much of our programme to Howells, with his uplifting Hymn for St. Cecilia; poignant Requiem; and masterful organ pieces from Stephen Hargreaves.
Please join the William Byrd Singers, conducted by Keith Orrell in our Heavenly Imaginations on Saturday 24th November at 7.30 at Christ Church, West Didsbury, M20 2ZD.
Tickets at £12 (concessions £10, students £5) are available online, in advance from choir members, or at the door.
