Bach performed the piece on several occasions, making several changes before returning to a format similar to the first version. The concert will aim to recreate the type of forces familiar to Bach in Leipzig, using a limited number of voices. This will emphasise the drama within this iconic masterpiece.  The concert follows the release of the new CD by luminatus, featuring the music of Guerrero, Massaino and McDowall.
