Programme Note
Commotio celebrate the festive season with a selection of rare choral gems by 20th Century and contemporary composers. Naylor's exceptional Introduction and nine carols,' Exultet Mundus Gaudio' and Richard Marlow's Advent Responsary make full use of the fabuluous accoustic of SJE with the choir dividing into several sections. Contemporary composers, Jackson, Briggs and Jones combine mediaeval texts with conemproary choral polyphony, whilst Esmail uses Indian classical Raag in her reflection upon the Christmas story from the perspective of evening, midnight, and daybreak.
