Programme Note

Ein deutsches Requiem combines intensely moving music with texts from the Lutheran Bible.  It offers comfort to the living - indeed Brahms described it as a "human" requiem, perhaps what we need as we are finally able to perform it, three years after the pandemic.

Alexander Learmonth has performed and recorded with many of the leading choirs and conductors in the country, including the Tallis Scholars and the Cambridge Singers under John Rutter, as well as having operatic roles to his credit.  We are delighted to have him perform with us again.

Helen Vincent has sung with the critically acclaimed National Youth Chamber Choir and was the first woman to be appointed to the position of Choral Scholar at Lincoln Cathedral.  She is now based in Bristol and we welcome her to sing with us again.

Paul Walton is Assistant Organist of Bristol Cathedral and has given recitals all over the UK and also in Germany.  He is also known for his arrangements for organ and his CDs of his performances but we believe his greatest achievement is his success as our Musicall Director!

At last we are giving a performance of these 2 amazing works, a programme originally scheduled for March 2020
