Programme Note
The Tailleferre Ensemble has recently released their world premiere recording of Sonate champêtre by Germaine Tailleferre. Their Conway Hall programme, showcasing groups of varying size from solo piano up to a sextet, features works by all of the members of Les Six, setting the music of their namesake in context. Poulenc’s much-loved Sextet is perhaps the most well-known work here, but music of the lesser-known Auric, Honegger and Milhaud will complete the picture of the colourful musical world the group inhabited.
About the Sunday Concerts
Founded in the 1880s, our chamber music concert series is the longest-running of its kind in Europe. Conway Hall was purpose-built in 1929 to host concerts and lectures, and they have continued here until the present day. The ethos of “affordable classical music for all” still remains.
