Programme Note
The Piatti Quartet make a welcome return to our series with a rare performance of Ralph Vaughan Williams' 'Household Music', a highlight of their recent album on Resonus which garnered rave reviews across the press. Acclaimed clarinettist Sacha Rattle joins the quartet for Brahms' much-loved quintet composed in 1891 for the clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld, who was also the inspiration for the composer's clarinet trio and two sonatas.
“The Piatti Quartet brings to this repertoire a passion, sympathy and a carefully balanced ensemble sense guaranteed to make each composer shine" BBC Music Magazine
About the Sunday Concerts
Founded in the 1880s, our chamber music concert series is the longest-running of its kind in Europe. Conway Hall was purpose-built in 1929 to host concerts and lectures, and they have continued here until the present day. The ethos of “affordable classical music for all” still remains.
