Programme Note

Join the North Herts Guild of Singers, the Beaufoy Sinfonia and two outstanding young soloists for a musical and nautical journey of epic proportions. Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ‘A Sea Symphony’ is possibly his greatest choral/orchestral work and is rarely performed due to its sheer magnitude. Complete with soaring melodies, beautiful orchestral colours and exhilarating choral textures, Vaughan Williams’ setting of wonderful words by Walt Whitman is not to be missed. Paired alongside two of CHH Parry’s most beloved anthems, ‘I was Glad’ and ‘Blest Pair of Sirens’ and Vaughan Williams’ ‘Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus’, this promises to be a veritable feast for the ears.

The Conductor, Harry Bradford is rapidly becoming well known both nationally and internationally for his skills and sheer musicality.

Supported by the Vaughan Williams Foundation this is a concert not to be missed.
