They were awarded the Fondazione Olly scholarship at Accademia Perosi (Italy). They have performed in prestigious venues all over Europe. String Quartet No. 14 in D minor Franz Schubert composed this daring work, otherwise known as Death and the Maiden in 1824. It has become one of the great pillars of the chamber music repertoire. Schubert's quartet won a leading place on the concert stage and in the hearts of musicians and audiences. "Only the excellence of such a work as Schubert's D minor Quartet... can in any way console us for the early and grievous death of this first-born of Beethoven; in a few years he achieved and perfected things as no one before him", wrote Robert Schumann of the quartet. There are four movements: Allegro, in D minor and common time (4/4) Andante con moto, in G minor and cut time (2/2) Scherzo: Allegro molto, in D minor and 3/4 time Presto, in D minor and 6/8 time. String Quartet No. 3 in D major, Op. 18, No. 3 Ludwig van Beethoven composed this piece between 1798 and 1800. Although it is numbered third, it was the first quartet Beethoven composed. String Quartet No. 3 (Beethoven). The work begins with a very gentle and unassuming theme, and ends with a Mexican hat dance! It is a genius construction of unusual musical strategy.
