Programme Note
Championed by Classic FM, Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace commissioned by the Royal Armouries, offers hope of peace as an end to the horrors of armed conflict – one of the most popular contemporary choral works in existence.
One mighty melody dominates in Elgar’s ‘Enigma’ Variations, his affectionate musical portrait of friends and acquaintances including the famous ‘Nimrod’ featured at the Cenotaph ceremony on Remembrance Sunday each year.
The World Première of Paul Carr’s exciting new Prayer of Saint Francis, (a Special RRCS 75th Anniversary Commission) looks set to take the musical world by storm with uplifiting, celebratory yet reflective moments.
