Programme Note
Commotio are delighted to return to Douai Abbey for their traditional New Year's Eve concert. Commotio's Director Matthew Berry has selected beautiful, rarely heard gems of the 20th Century, and stunning works by emerging contemporary composers. Contemporary composers, Jackson, Briggs and Jones combine mediaeval texts with contemporary choral polyphony, whilst Esmail uses Indian classical Raag in her reflection upon the Christmas story from the perspective of evening, midnight, and daybreak.
