Alto Giove, English String Suites, & The Glass Box

Add to my Calendar 11-11-2017 19:00 11-11-2017 21:00 36 Alto Giove, English String Suites, & The Glass Box Conducted by Hugo Jennings, This concert provides an interesting mix of British and Italian music, and sees the premiere of Tristan Latchford's work, The Glass Box. The concert kicks off with Alex Pullinger (Countertenor) performing Porpora's 'Alto Giove'. A stunning talent often performing all over London, this marks Alex's first performance in the North East. A sample of his work can be found at http://www.alexanderpullinger.com/audio. Alex's performance will be followed by a series of English String suites; Holst - Brook Green Suite, Elgar - Elegy for String Orchestra; and Walton's music for Henry V. All beautifully written and carefully concieved pieces exploring the capabilities of the ensemble to express emotion. The final piece of the evening will be the first complete perfomance, and the premiere of Tristan Latchford's The Glass Box. Half song cycle and half operetta, The Glass Box explores the effect of dementia on the relationship of its two main protaganists. The work aims to strike a chord with a society in which this is an increasingly common trail. Madelene Wattles (Soprano - 'Our Lady') and Leo Charlier (Baritone - 'Our Man'), take up the solo roles. This concert provides a truly unique opportunity to hear top performers and new music for the first ever time. Elvet Methodist Church, Durham DD/MM/YYYY
