Add to my Calendar 27-06-2020 19:30 27-06-2020 21:30 36 Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight On Saturday June 27th the walls of the Ely Cathedral will resound with the music of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and Chopin, played by Harriet Mackenzie, Warren Mailley-Smith and the Piccadilly Sinfonietta.   Experience a romantic, candlelit evening with selections of the world’s greatest classical music in the gorgeous Ely Cathedral.  The concert features timeless works by the monumental composers Chopin, Handel, Bach and Vivaldi.  If you’re in need of a relaxing experience, want to learn more about classical music, or just want to hear virtuosic performances by some of the best, young performers in the UK, this concert is just for you.   The Piccadilly Sinfonietta is one of the UK’s most exciting young ensembles.  Founded in 2018, the ensemble has performed throughout the UK including London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Manchester and further afield.  The Piccadilly Sinfonietta exists to perform the world’s greatest classical music in the UK’s most historic venues.   The concert features breath-taking feats of virtuosity from violinist sensation, Harriet Mackenzie, in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and virtuoso concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith in Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto.   Award-winning concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith has played many times for the British Royal Family and is the first British pianist to perform Chopin’s complete solo piano works from memory. An exceptional talent and a self-deprecating sense of humour, combined with his formidable technical skill and mature musicality, make him a favourite with audiences.   Harriet Mackenzie is an internationally renowned concerto soloist and has performed across five continents. Her recordings include concertos with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Nova and the English Symphony Orchestra which have received international acclaim, including Five Stars in The Times and have also frequently appeared in the ‘Top Recordings of The Year’ lists. These include a nomination for ‘Recording of The Year’ in Music Web International: “There is a completeness, a confidence, an honesty and a consistent lyrical beauty that has moved me again and again.
