ALBERTO BOLOGNI launches his new CD DEDICATIONS (on Sheva Contempoary label)
Music by Bruno, Bach, Fribbins, Rigacci, Geminiani, Seabourne
For hundreds of years, the solo violin has inspired composers to create some of their most personal and intimate work. This recital, by renowned Italian virtuoso Alberto Bologni, launches his new CD ‘Dedications’, featuring important contemporary works for solo violin by composers from Italy, the UK and Argentina.
The Estorick Collection of modern italian art provides the perfect setting for this music, which in this recital also includes a sonata by Bach - arguably the father of the solo violin repertoire - and Geminiani, his Italian contemporary who emigrated to Britain in the 1700s, reminding us of the rich history of Italian-British musical collaboration over the centuries.
Maestro Bologni will be autographing copies of his new CD at this event.
"A remarkable disc and one of the finest violin recitals of any music I’ve heard in the past two years" Lynn Bayley - Naxos
