Programme Note
The concert opens with an invitation from Richard Lloyd Owen (tenor) to join the cast of La Traviata as they enjoy time together in their local taverna. Tina Fung (soprano) continues the merry-making by telling the world how she Could Have Danced All Night (My Fair Lady).
This is an evening combining favourites from the world of musicals and grand opera. The programme includes a moving duet from La Boème extolling the exuberance of falling in love (O Suave Fanciulla), a flippant warning to men about to enter the unchartered waters of a relationship (La Donna è Mobile – Rigoletto) and two well-known numbers from Les Misérables – I Dreamed a Dream, and Bring Him Home.
All this and more – A Night At The Opera, and all you had to pay for the ticket was the price of your contribution to the church organ restoration fund.
