Programme Note

In our current troubled times, there can be nothing more powerful than Vaughan Williams’ impassioned plea for peace, Dona Nobis Pacem, which was inspired by his personal experience of the horrors of WW1 and written in the late 1930’s as conflict loomed once again.

This work will be partnered with Brahms "Tragische" Overture and the gentle and reflective Faure - Requiem, the composer’s very personal prayer for those who have died. Guildford Choral are once more joined by Southern Pro Music, with soloists under the baton of Musical Director Jonathan Willcocks.
