Add to my Calendar 09-05-2020 19:30 09-05-2020 21:30 36 Vivaldi’s Four Seasons by Candlelight On Saturday May 9th, in the heart of Glasgow, the walls of the Glasgow Cathedral will resound with the music of Vivaldi, Bach, Handel, and Mozart, played by Zoë Beyers and the Piccadilly Sinfonietta.   Experience a romantic, candlelit evening with selections of the world’s greatest classical music in the gorgeous Glasgow Cathedral.  The concert features timeless works by the monumental composers, Mozart, Handel, Bach, and Vivaldi.  If you’re in need of a relaxing experience, want to learn more about classical music, or just want to hear virtuosic performances by some of the best, young performers in the UK, this concert is just for you.   The Piccadilly Sinfonietta is one of the UK’s most exciting young ensembles.  Founded in 2018, the ensemble has performed in halls throughout the UK including London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Manchester and further afield.  The Piccadilly Sinfonia exists to perform the world’s greatest classical music in the UK’s most historic venues.   The concert features breath-taking feats of virtuosity from violinist sensation, Zoë Beyers, in Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Bach’s Violin Concerto in E Major.   South-African born Zoë Beyers has established herself as one of the UK’s most versatile violinists and performs as soloist, chamber musician, director and orchestral leader across the world.  Since her solo debut aged eleven with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra under Paavo Järvi, she has performed with many distinguished conductors throughout Europe and Africa.  As an orchestral leader, Zoë performs regularly with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras, the Philharmonia, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Aurora Orchestra.  She has played as leader on several highly regarded recordings with Andris Nelsons, Juano Mena and John Storgards, most recently on discs of de Falla and Ginastera with Mena and the BBC Philharmonic for Chandos.   So why not treat yourself to a spectacular evening and join us for a concert to remember of uplifting music.
