Programme Note
Hosted by the Dartington Community Choir in conjunction with Dartington Arts this is a two-day weekend workshop, open to all, in the beautiful setting of Dartington Estate. The workshop is non-residential but accommodation is offered at Dartington Hall at preferential rates. The weekend features guest conductor Scott Stroman, soprano Catherine Hamilton and pianist Kristian Lindberg. We will be singing Poulenc’s exciting jazzy Gloria and a world premiere of Scott Stroman’s Songs for the Seasons, a song cycle based on poems by Enid Blyton. Scott is a uniquely broad musician: a
prolific composer, a conductor of orchestras
and choirs, and a renowned and popular
educator in jazz, classical and world music.
He is arranging his new song cycle for mixed voices especially for this workshop. A unique opportunity to sing with this renowned and popular conductor and composer. The weekend culminates with an informal sing-through on Sunday afternoon. Please encourage friends and family to come and listen. There will be no charge.
