Add to my Calendar 10-10-2018 19:00 10-10-2018 21:00 36 WCGS Charity Fund Concert Joon Yoon, Piano Pianist Joon Yoon made his solo debut at age 12 in Korea and concerto debut at age 13 in the USA. Joon has performed in venues such as Petit Palau of Palau de la Musica Catalana, Alice Tully and Paul Hall of Lincoln Center, and Recital Hall of Seoul Arts Center among others to name. As an avid chamber musician, he has collaborated with prestigious musicians such as current and former members of the Guarneri, Juilliard, and Ying quartets. In 2018, He was the unanimous winner of Guildhall School’s most prestigious award, the Gold Medal, previously won by artists such as Jacqueline du Pre and Bryn Terfel. Other prizes include the Guildhall Beethoven Prize (2017), and 2nd and audience prize at the Concurso Internacional Piano Campillos in Spain(2016) among others. His teachers and greatest musical influences are Yong Hi Moon, Robert McDonald, and Hung-Kuan Chen. He is a graduate of Yale School of Music and The Juilliard School under full scholarship, and is continuing his studies at the Guildhall School in London as an Artist Diploma candidate with Ronan O’Hora. Ben Tarlton, Cello Born in 1995 in Wales, Ben studied with Sharon McKinley and Alexander Baillie before attending the Yehudi Menuhin School in 2011 to study with Thomas Carroll. In 2014, he received a scholarship to The Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study with Louise Hopkins.Whilst at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Ben has participated in numerous chamber projects in Milton Court and The Barbican Hall. He has also performed as part of The New Music Ensemble in a BBC ‘total immersion’ broadcast. In November 2016, he was one of two soloists to play for The LSO’s Donatella Flick conducting competition semi-finalists, with The Guildhall Symphony Orchestra. Recently, he has been chosen to participate in a workshop playing with Janine Jansen the Mendelssohn octet. Amarins Wierdsma, Violin Amarins Wierdsma,Born in Utrecht in 1991 to a musical family, began playing the violin at the age of two. Her teachers have included Coosje Wijzenbeek, Vera Beths and David Takeno. Amarins has taken part in courses including: IMS Prussia Cove, The International Holland Music Sessions among several others. Amarins has won several prizes at important violin events, such as the "Iordens Viooldagen", "Davina van Wely Violin Competition", "Princess Christina Competition" Young Musician of the Year 2007 and, in 2013, the national "Oskar Back Violin Competition" in Amsterdam. Amarins is the first violinist of the award winning Barbican String Quartet. In May 2017 Amarins will be touring for the series New Masters on Tour. Grosvenor Chapel, London DD/MM/YYYY
