Programme Note
The internationally-renowned soloist Maximilian Ehrhardt (Welsh triple harp) performs newly discovered works for the harp from a Welsh manuscript collection, including music by Handel, Corelli, Parry and others.
Maximilian Ehrhardt will perform on a copy of an 18th century harp, recreating the original sound of the period. The programme tells the story of a Welsh harpist in the time of Handel: musically illustrating his journey to London, where the influences of city life – with its opera and large orchestra – are blended with the melancholic and simple beauty of the songs from his homeland.
